Soaring slug and snail populations pose threat to local dogs

Soggy weather conditions have again provided an ideal environment for a huge increase in the UK’s populations of slugs and snails, and this could pose a serious risk to dogs that accidentally or habitually eat these slippery pests.

Borrajo's veterinary surgeons, John Borrajo, warns owners to be on the look out for signs that their dog has, or may be prone to picking up a lungworm infection.

What to do now Winter is on it's way.

As we have all noticed the nights are drawing in and winter is definitely on its way. As the nights get darker we do start to see an increase in fireworks noise and now is a good time to try and do something about the problem.

Pet of the Month

Lara-Mcshane.jpg

September’s “Pet of the Month” is Lara Mcshane, a 10 year old Labrador. Since on the 1st of May 2008, Lara weighed 37.9 Kg (6 stone). The vet advised Mr Mcshane that Lara needed to lose weight. One of our nurses advised him on ways that could help Lara lose weight during a one to one nurse’s clinic and, 3 months later, she weighed 31.9Kg (5 stone).

Acupuncture, puppy parties and weight loss!

We are sure you will all be very interested to know that our acupuncture clinics are proving to be a great success. Eve has seen a number of patients both dogs and cats and it had made a huge difference to these animals. Owners are noticing much improved mobility and much happier dispositions which is fantastic news and some conditions have even been completely cured!

My name is Tammy, I have been a veterinary nurse now for about three and a half years, but I have only been at Borrajo's since January 07.

I love all aspects of my job but I have a particular interest in Anaesthesia. Outside of work I love eating out, walking my little dog Bonnie and of course shopping!

Hello, I have been working here with the Borrajo's team as a veterinary nurse since 2001. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my job role and was born to help animals.

My particular interests are canine psychology, behaviour and running puppy socialisation party's and soon puppy walks.

Outside of work I spend my time rehabilitating my rescue dog Jinny which involves socialising, training, walking, bmxing, agility and swimming. I also have another lovely dog Torro and a disabled rescue cat Feebi.
